Mary Vogt Steinebach Requiem Mass

Recently renewed my Ancestry subscription. Found an article describing the events of my 3rd great grandmother, Mary Vogt Steinebach's funeral Mass. Quite the event, as a Solemn High Mass, with the pastor, Fr. Clement Sigmund serving as main celebrant, two other priests serving as Deacon and Subdeacon, one bring a nephew. We also see her niece, Sister Mary Michael, RSM was also in attendance.

Mary was a foster mother to area children, walked to daily Mass, a priest stayed in her home and said Mass before St. Mary's Church was built. Family members have said she was very kind and would never say a bad word about anyone, always seeing the good in others.

Article (above) from Traverse City Record Eagle describing the events of the Requiem Mass, also listing the many attendants who came from out of town.

The nephew, Fr. Frederick Voss and the niece, Sister Mary Michael, RSM mentioned in article.

Mary Vogt Steinebach, herself with Mass Card from the funeral mass itself, that I have personally. The handwriting is that of her granddaughter, my own great grandmother, Mary Louise Steinebach Kreiser.

Wedding Certificate

May 07, 22 I was visiting my father. He was going through old paperwork that had belonged to his late parents, Jim and Rita. This was among those items. A certificate given to the newly married couple by the parish priest who officiated at their Nuptial High Mass, the Rev. Fr. Clement Sigmund. Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1947.
